Alemania: Eurovisión 2012

Alemania vuelve a ir a por todas en el Festival de Eurovisión. Después del éxito de Lena Meyer-Landrut en las últimas dos ediciones (primer puesto en 2010 y décimo en 2011), el público alemán ha elegido a Roman Lob con su canción "Standing Still" como representante en Bakú 2012. 

Detrás de "Standing Still" se esconde el nombre de uno de los intépretes y autores británicos más reconocidos del momento: Jamie Cullum, que ha coescrito esta canción junto a Wayne Hector (autor de más de 30 nº 1 internacionales y colaborador de artistas como Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears, One Direction, Pussy Cat Dolls y Toni Braxton) y Steve Robson (quien ha producido canciones para Tina Turner, James Morrison, Faith Hill, Lily Allen y el grupo Take That, entre otros).

Roman Lob nació en Wied el 2 de julio de 1990. Aficionado a la música desde pequeño, se dio a conocer al público alemán en el año  2007 cuando participó en el programa de jóvenes talentos Deutschland sucht den Superstar, que tuvo que abandonar debido a una grave infección en sus cuerdas vocales. 

Ahora el cantante ha conseguido su pasaporte para Eurovisión 2012 tras imponerse por la mínima a su contrincante Ornella de Santis en Unser Star für Baku. En esta edición del programa de la NDR los dos artistas tuvieron que actuar ante la atenta mirada de un jurado especializado compuesto por Stefan Raab (presentador de Eurovisión 2011 y mentor de Lena), Alina Süggeler (cantante del grupo Frida Gold) y Thomas D(miembro del grupo de hip-hop Die Fantastischen Vier). Todos ellos evaluaron cada una de las actuaciones de los dos finalistas, aunque la decisión final estuvo solo en manos de los telespectadores a través del sistema de televoto.  

En la última fase de la final de Unser Star für Baku, las dos canciones finalistas fueron "Quietly", interpretada por Ornella de Santis y "Standing Still" de Roman Lob, que venció con un 50,7% de los votos.
